FAIL

LogiSystems controller #2 blew up causing a small fire. There was no damage to the car or other components.

Honestly, I don't even know what to say at this point. Words cannot adequately express the array of emotions I am feeling. After all of the hard work, long hours and money I have spent on this project, all I have built is "character" - which is precisely what I need to rely on at this moment.

Very sorry to hear about this second failure. The burn mark on the hood looks further back toward the cowl than the actual controller. What burnt exactly?

The controller explosion was contained in its aluminum case, but blew out the back, which is sealed with epoxy. I guess the force of the explosion sent most of the fire and heat back away from the end of the controller.

This is horrible news, Bruce. I just don't know what to say. Keep your head up. You'll be driving one of the coolest EVs around soon enough, and it will be even sweeter when you do.

Disappointing for sure. I read you have a Curtis. Perhaps it should be a case of 'once bitten, twice shy'. Get the Curtis in, even though it reduces your volts. Get Logisystems to pay for the burn damage and get a full refund.

Ouch, that certainly is disapointing.
I'd definitely go for the Curtis now...

oh man.. heart breaking for sure. I was waiting for an update in the new year and see this... Don't give up now though, can you go back to the other controller that uses less voltage? I'd be furious with logicsystems.

So was this an exact replication of the last blowout, Bruce?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yes, this was very similar to the first blow up - same sequence of events, slightly longer distance this time. The explosion was much worse this time however.

In the meantime, I continue to hear of people who have gotten their repaired LogiSystems controllers back who have had no problems at all.

I hope to find out more information on what made mine go boom in the next day or so, then I'll post what I plan to do next.

I'm sure that you've gone over your grounding, but in a 24V system, you really needs to touch the ground. Don't know much about this stuff, just the basics. If your supplier fails you, invent your own. Welder controllers?
Just some idea.

Have you contacted Logisystems yet? After you stopped yelling at them, what did they say?
