Update - June 5, 2009

Greetings to all!

Wow, my last post was almost two months ago. It's definitely time to check in and write an update.

No, I haven't given up on the Duster. After about 9 or 10 months of focusing on nothing but this project, life has sort of caught up with me. I have been pretty busy the past couple of months taking care of MANY other household and career necessities that I had been neglecting. There is never enough time or energy to do everything I want/need to.

Also, I finally had to halt everything car-related and clean out my shop from top to bottom. I have collected so many projects and parts over the past few years that it was becoming nearly impossible to accomplish anything. I was getting seriously frustrated whenever I worked on something because I could never find what I needed - tools, parts, room to work. So, I have sold off a lot of unnecessary stuff and re-organized my workspace so now I can THINK clearly again and actually FIND things.

The Duster is "streetable" but has not left the driveway in quite some time. I am about ready to resume where I left off, especially now that gas prices are creeping up again. My next step is to finish installing the various meters I need to monitor the performance. At that time, I can complete the "fix" on the battery terminals. Then I will be ready for some serious street testing.

Great to hear! My project has stalled as well. Hopefully I'll be plugging away at it again soon.

Great to see you're still working on your project. Everyone knows there is never enough time to do everything you want. Perhaps next year you can bring your all electric Duster to the Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA. This year they had a Green Class which your Duster would definitely fit in. You can see more information at www.carlisleevents.com. If you do decide to go, you may want to figure out a way to charge the car. The hotel I stay at had outlets on their light posts, but there was no power to them (the outlets, not the lights).

Any progress? I've managed to get my Spitfire EV on the road in the meantime. I'm just about to paint it and start finishing all of the cosmetics. I love it!

I haven't made any progress on the car for quite a while. I spent all Summer working on other Mopar projects. I only occasionally drive the Duster around the neighborhood. I guess this project is on the back burner for a while.

The Volkswagen Grille never did give names to their cars, instead consistently using letters and numbers to designate the coupes, sedans and the SUVs. With the Volkswagen Grille Q45 being the flagship sedan, the Volkswagen Grille found its place in the American market. The Nissan body parts never did give names to their cars, instead consistently using letters and numbers to designate the coupes, sedans and the SUVs.

Thanks

Love your project!! I'm also a mopar nut with 9 of 'em... I only drive 4 of them regularly and I hate the fact that I had to become a BIKER to be green (i have a 600 shadow and a 550 kawasaki as daily drivers), i guess that's how I justify burning rubber in my charger 440. I wish I had the talent an patience you've shown bolting your electric mopar together. I read about your project in an old MCG mag and I was blown away... you think you could buy an old electric transit bus and pillage the motor and electronics to get a similar project off the ground?

Please update your site as i've read all 89 postings in 2 sittings!! Keep up the great work!

Raul,
Thanks for the kind words. Always great to hear from another Mopar nut! Man, I didn't even know my car was in MCG. I guess I will post an update to the blog to let people know what's happening.
